default Traxxas Summit in action. The new remote controlled 4wd truck does a creek crossing!

My girlfriend and I decided to give the Frontier a break and let the Summit get some action on our day trip today. It ate up this creek. I love this truck. Bone stock, running 2 3800 carbon Orion lipos.

    @MCgangsta11
Yes, although I wouldn’t recommend completely submerging it. Also, make sure your batteries are not affected by water (ie the MaxAmps waterproof batts).

  • MCgangsta11:

Is it waterproof out of the box

  • XXXTITEXXX:

@harvey6696 if i do crawing it lasts at least 40 minutes(1st gear). If i start bashing around and jumping at full throttle it is limited to let say 15-20 minutes

  • Pimp90Daddy:

    thats a fast creek!!

  • jab287:

should i get the summit or a savage xl

  • Konakrazy1:

did your tires fill up with water.

  • horsepower13:

Well the sticker didn’t make it any faster, it just made it cost 3 times as much and for some reason I can’t seem to get the Traxxas “genius bar” on the phone. lol…

  • panhead88:

    LOL, good call.

  • TheDaverob123:

gesh you so just ruined the traxxas name with that Apple sticker. Lols just fooling nice video tho.

  • kart4nos:

i mit get one i like rock crawling but i like fast rcs this is what i need

  • dgenerationx767:

i wuold of been kindda scared doing that, lol jsut seeing ur 490$ truck floating down stream

  • harvey6696:

how long does the summit run for on a full charge on stock batteries?

  • petrolheadkirby:

i thought it wasnt going to make it the first time OH NO! what a great truck such a smart idea to be able to change gears and lock the diff.

  • leworld1964:

ya have a cool place to run your summit…wish i had a place close like that…looks like some fun jeep trails…..

  • somedudeandacomp:

    sounds like me :)

  • horsepower13:

True, it could ultimately be a problem, but in the short term, it’s not conductive enough to short a pack 90% of the time, even inside the pack itself. I’m willing to take the 10% risk… also, I’m willing to make up percentages out of thin air to make myself feel better it. lol….

  • somedudeandacomp:

It’s not the water and the terminals that scare me, it’s if the water gets inside of those packs, they have a water resistant design but not waterproof

  • horsepower13:

Yeah, I have a couple of “carbon” series Orion lipos I have dunked numerous times and they are still working great. Don’t recommend people do that per se, but for the most part it’s safe due to the low conductivity of water… same reason you can safely break in your brushed motors under water.

  • somedudeandacomp:

    lipos submersed?

lol, be something to see your summit head down the creek and have to chase after it lolz

  • horsepower13:

Sure it can… even the original e-maxx ESC can. Just have to make sure you don’t exceed 4 cells total. Two 2s lipos work great with it. 3s lipos would fry it though. Also, you need a separate LVC, I use the Novak Smart-stop 4s version.

  • lizardmannnn:

lipos? the evx2 cant handle lipos? can it

  • johnnieldoctor:

Did you have to cut holes in your tires to get the water out? Traxxas says to drill a3/16hole but that doesnt work it rips the tires. What did you do to get the water out?

  • horsepower13:

    Definitely. It’s a blast.

  • RCdude33:

ok thanks man but do you reccomend the summit?

  • horsepower13:

On the way back over the stream, I’m in first. I stop briefly when I get out of the water and switch to 2nd, then take off fast. Through the stream I was in first, on the shores I was in 2nd. Hope that helps.
